TODAY'S LESSON AND HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT

Song of the Week

reminder about rubrics for teacher assistant

Homework assignment:
1) MAKE ENGLISH CLASS COZY AND WARM. BRING MUG AND HOT CHOCOLATE OR TEA!
2) Study for terms quiz tomorrow.
3) Write a thank-you letter to an adult who has been important to you. Use the 11-sentence formula, and be sure to use the proper format for a personal letter. (See out website for the proper format.) Write very neatly and carefully. This kind of letter is far more important than any essays we might write this year, so try to make it your very best work. Bring the letter with a carefully addressed envelope tomorrow. No stamp is necessary.

Lesson topic and objectives:
TOPIC: Sparknotes
OBJECTIVE: The students will learn how to use Sparknotes in an honest and scholarly manner, as an effective tool for a mindful reader.

Steps to reaching the objective(s):
  • Go over proper form for a personal letter.
  • Connection to prior learning: How have you used Sparknotes in the past?
  • Look over the Sparknotes website, especially the "Literature without Fear" section on TKAM
  • Exit ticket: From yesterday ... describe one motif that you see in your own life.
