READ TOTC, Ch. 14, "The Honest Tradesman", and do your usual careful notes. Come to class tomorrow feeling proud of your work.
Today's Lesson Objectives:
Today the students will
1) learn the answers to some of the questions on the notes for Chapters 11-12, and
2) will write an in-class essay on the topic of "sacrifice". In the essay, students might discuss people they know or have heard about who have made sacrifices to help other people, or they might discuss sacrifices they themselves have made. They could also write about sacrifices they would be willing to make in the future in order to help others.
Steps in the lesson
1) Discuss the answers to the questions on the notes
2) Listen to CH. 13 read aloud, and watch for the idea of "sacrifice".
3) Discuss the essay assignment, and some possible ways to handle it
4) Write the essay in the computer lab. It will be a 3-paragraph essay, with one 11-sentence body paragraph. One FAST word should be used in each of the three paragraphs, and at least one appositive and one participle should be in the body paragraph. Be sure to have at least two long sentences in the body paragraph -- 20 words or more. Post the final essay on Google Docs. Be sure you invite me to both comment and edit.
